I have, and just really noticed it this winter. Only when it snows, whether I have 4x4 engaged or not. Mostly between 35-75mph. Bugs me to no end.

Started looking around.......AND.......Found something interesting.

There is a problem with 01-03' Rangers and sport tracs (may apply to other years?) with 4L hiccuping, jerking, etc while it rains or snows while cruising. It also may occasionally cause hard or no starts. If bad enough, may even cause a no communication with the PCM issue. The average mileage at which this starts happening is 80,000mi.

Apparently there is a integrity problem with Ground G104/100. It is located on the rad. support just in front of the battery. It is the PCM/PCM relay main ground. The proper fix is to clean the stud(G104) and nut(G100). Retourqe the stud to 10 ft/lbs, and the nut to 7 ft lbs.

I still have yet to do this, but I will post results when I do. The real test will be the next time it snows.

Mine does it all the time, wet or dry. Trying it tomorrow. I am running out of things to try so it can't hurt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the little bastard right here.

That's it!

I pulled mine this morning at work and cleaned it. Haven't had a single hiccup so far.

Still no hiccups. I'd hate to get hopes up, but I think it worked/

Just tried it, didn't work for me. Although it did have a little corrosion on it, so I am glad you found out about it. Trying a new coil pack this week.

Keep me updated on your findings.

Mine improved, but it didn't cure it. Little disappointed.

I did some thread searching, even on other sites, and a MOTORCRAFT air filter and making sure it is 100 percent seated fixed the problem.

People using K&N, fram, and other aftermarket filters were having the issue.

One problem. I'm running a purlator, which is supposed to be the same filter. :dunno:
