I lived in the far reaches of Upstate NY for a year. Went out to walk a few blocks to the gym once when it was -30 F and wind chill was -60 F and every time I blinked my eyelashes froze together. I turned around and got in my car and drove.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Home. All that talk about negative temperatures. Woke up this morning and it was 57 degrees. That's a POSITIVE 57 degrees Fahrenheit. While eating my oatmeal, someone had rekindled the campfire. Got my coffee and we spent time relaxing around the fire. Then took my jacket off and still worked up a sweat breaking camp and loading the truck. Great way to start the new year.

eric... looks like a good time and nice way to hangout for a new years, eve, day..... its -10 here and 6-8 inches of snow all last week. time off and i would love to be out in shop wrenching on something. BUT cold tools and cold fingers just don't go together when its hotter by the furnace.

happy 1st to all those who aren't hanging a head into a porcelain god and saying never again ..... Cuz we all know you will do it again next year.....

cheers

That is a mighty large fire ring. Looks like it is designed for some pretty huge fires.

I spent the night at home sipping Tequila to bring in the New Year. I plan to be camping next weekend around Anza Borrego though. There is supposed to be three new Rangers on the trip, so I can personally see just how capable they are.

Im at work shoveling and snow blowing to clear the work area. Its -16C but supposed to warm up to maybe 0C. Actually hope it doesnt get that warm, -10 to -5 is good working temps, otherwise things start getting slippery on the wood deck and asphalt roofing. Im installing vinyl siding.

Even here in PA it was 58 yesterday on NYE. Love me some global warming.
Hasn't been cold at all so far this winter. Not even any snow accumulation to speak of.

Stayed home and watched the partying for New Years. We got a case of Covid for Christmas. Don't know where, only that the girlfriend got it first and it moved on to me and her daughter. So, we get to quarantine until cleared to go out in public.

I hope you do not feel to bad. When I got it back in early 2020 I had it really bad, like having Mono and a really bad cold at the same time.

Me and the wife are stuck home at the moment as well. I think we got it from my brother who flew home for Christmas from the Army. That whole side of the family got it. Luckily we are nowhere near as bad as last time. Really it's just the wife that has cold like symptoms.

One day of a temperature and the rest has been a little bit of a cough and body aches. More of an uncomfortable inconvenience than anything for me and her daughter. It's been a bit worse for the girlfriend but nothing serious. The first time we had it in 2019, we thought it was a bad flu and symptoms were worse but still not serious. Definitely not fun but survivable.

Better than the neighbors. From what I understand, they are having a pretty rough time of it over there. Everyone is still home but still rough.
