I found a pair of very nice leather Jaguar seats I would like to install in my 2003 Ford Ranger Edge. The problem is the plugs and the wires are different. Being an electronic luddite, I ask this question: "Why plug anything in at all?"

Would that mess with the air bags? Seat belt warning chimes and dashboard light? Would the car computer turn on a check soon light?

The seat belt retractors are tied into the airbag system. You need seatbelts anyway, so try to incorporate them with your new seats.

The seat belts are also tied into the GEM module, so that would be your input that causes the buzzer and dash warning light. So it looks like as long as you keep the seat belts fully functional, you should be ok as far as I can tell from the diagrams.

Thank you Franklin! I will start by unplugging the seat sensors and see what, if anything, will happen.
