I've been a long time lurker, and finally decided I needed another forum to get involved with. On my second RBV project, first one was a 1987 Bronco II that had some money thrown at it. Was the daughter's first car when she turned 16 in 2012. Spent a lot of money and time building it, then sold it in Feb 2014 to someone that is still enjoying it in Vail.

in October 2012, I bought a 1987 Ranger std cab short bed 4x4 for $300. 2.9L with an FM146. Needed a clutch, but instead of just replacing the clutch we pulled engine and trans, stripped the body, replaced most of the running gear with upgraded options, and planned on a 2.3L turbo swap.

8.8 LSD disc rear from 96 explorer

Your Ranger is looking good. That was a nice Bronco II that you sold. Are you still working on the 2.3L turbo swap ?

Still working on the swap, it is very close. at this point we are just doing final fuel mapping with megasquirt. Making about 10psi boost right now, and looking to get to around 17-18. Have some 42lb injectors bought and will re-map once those are installed.

First failure I expect to have is the stock auto locking hubs on the front end. When they go I will replace with Mile Marker manual hubs.

Welcome--like those seats and the Ranger. I also had a nice 87 BII and some days wonder why I sold it!

BII was a labor of love. was unemployed at the time I built it and needed that to keep my sanity. Had a huge build thread at Broncoii-ranger.com that was lost when that site died.

Most of the build pics are here still:

The Ranger, while not as extreme as the BII was, has been a really fun build.

Bought for $300
Stripped bare, primered and painted in my garage
Body lift added, then removed. Free to good home if someone wants it.
Original Alcoa 15x7 wheels bought for $100 total
2" superlift coils in front
2" shackle, and explorer leaf pack in rear
1996 8.8 LSD with 3.73 and disc brakes
1994 D35 front with 3.73
drop steering bracket
2.3 turbo engine, Megasquirt MS1 Extra with Map daddy (no VAM)
1987 Prelude seats

The only thing really left to do is add a media player head unit and component speakers/sub/amp. Being a standard cab, it won't take much power to get the air moving in the cab.

Possibly toying with the idea of eliminating the stock gauge cluster and replacing with the intellitronix 6 gauge set in Ford green:
