+1 on the Hankook's, I've got a set on my Suburban instead of the BFG AT's I went to put on, and they've been awesome, not too noisy, and less expensive than the aforementioned BFG's. Seem to grip like a mud tire should, stops on wet or dry pavement as well as the AT's. Haven't really taken the Tank into any major mud either so...

Nice truck, I have the same year, mine is black.

You might look at Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. The Radials get pretty decent road wear and good bite off road. They are directional however. They clean out pretty easy but do make a good bit of noise. The Bias ply are a bit rougher riding but wicked off road.

I personally run Winston Winner ATs. Mine were discontinued, but the similar tread is a Winston Winner AP. They roar a bit, but with 25k miles, they still have more tread than my Dad's 4 month old 8k miles Goodyear MTs. They roade under my Sport Trac till being moved to my Ranger.

I'm in Nor Cal as well. Petaluma to be exact. When my truck is up and running we'll have to go wheel Cow Mountain.
