Hi all,
My 94 Ranger is an XLT 4.0 automatic.
The speed control has works well for years, but as of last week it won't shut off when I depress the brake pedal.
It works fine if I activate it with the steering wheel buttons, and I can turn it off using the buttons.
But when activated, it wont de-activate with the brake pedal.

This model does not have a pressure switch mounted on the master cylinder.

Any ideas where I should star looking for a fault?

Cheers

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Make sure the brake lights are working.

If they are, check that the same wire at the cruise unit shows +12v with the brake lights on.

A factory cruise should also have a vacuum dump valve on the brake pedal as a "fail safe" to the electric deactivation.

Is your cruise control factory installed?

Thanks,
It's a factory system. I will check for brake lights and get back.
Also, where is the vacuum dump valve located? The only thing I noticed on the pedal arm was the brake light switch.
