Hey guys, so I am in the process of doing something a bit wild. I lucked out and was able to get a 351M motor and I am rebuilding it to drop into my 2001 Ranger. I know that there will be some issues with the ECU and ignition controls. What parts do I need to bypass the ECU? Or is there a direction you could point me to figure this out?

What ECU? The 351m was never offered with fuel injection. All the original wiring, and ECU from the 2001 is basically just trash. You'll need to custom wire in for a distributor style ignition which isn't exactly hard since there's not too much involved wiring wise to making a distributor and carb engine run.

Getting a 351 modified to physically fit in the engine bay will be much more work than the wiring.

Why you make two separate threads?

Sometimes when posting on a forum... you ask and let it soak for a day or two... not 12.5 minutes before asking the same thing again.

I'm going to delete the one I replied to...

Oh no ... I’m in the beginning stages just rebuilding the 400 now. Won’t be ready for drop until maybe 6 months from now
