My last house was a raised ranch. The garage was under one end of the house, but the garage door was level with the ground. I never had water run into it.

On another note...

I spent a week cleaning up my yard. Cut down a few dead shrubs that had grown into trees, and cut the ones that were still alive into big shrubs.

Decided to rent a u-haul 5x9 utility trailer to haul it to our local recycling center. Also hauled of the rotted doors I replaced on the shop and a few other items of junk.

I made 3 trips and even had 6 bags of leaves stuffed in the bed of the truck on each trip.

In case you're wondering, there's 69 large lawn trash bags in that pile.

Glad I don't have to do that, the 5 heaping ranger bed loads to the burn pile of apple tree trimmings would have been more than that... Next step is getting the blackberries under control (which will never happen, but I can try...)

On another note, there's a very slight angle on my driveway toward my garage, under very heavy rain some water will seep a couple feet into the garage, on the very long list of to do's is get some drainage figured out for that but first step is to just get the stuff out from in front of the garage, but the to do list is too long to get that far...

Thanks.

A guy actually stopped as I was loading up the truck and told me he liked what I was doing with the building. He said the previous owner never saw the potential of the building and was glad to see someone doing something with it.

I really appreciated the compliment.

After replacing all of my waterline in the yard, cleaning the yard up, and helping fix the leak at my daughters, I'm finally working on the bathroom in the shop again.

1000004655.jpg
I took the furring strips down, drilled more holes, and ran the 3/4" waterline through them from the exterior wall. The 3/8" copper line coming in under the building no longer flowed water.

1000004728.jpg

I closed the wall up with drywall:

1000004732.jpg

And then covered the drywall with a sheet of paneling.

1000004734.jpg

Then I primed this panel and the original panel to the left of this photo and then painted them white. I still need to put my brick paneling over the furring strips and cover the water line.

1000004806.jpg

1000004809.jpg

The shadow from the light makes the wall look like it has a bend in it.
Here's the outside of the wall with all the water and drain lines:

1000004810.jpg

I removed the old door and door frame and installed a new one:

1000004812.jpg

Seems like this project has taken forever, but it's slowly getting there.

One step at a time. Projects like this can easily overwhelm you if you are not careful.
It looks really good.

I just know it would be one of those things you wish you would have done while you were in there at some point.

I was lucky that my place came with one. I've used it plenty.

I know it's rather inconvenient to hace to go into the basement of the house to scrub up when I'm all greasy and grimy from doing work on the trucks. A utility sink in the garage would be real nice and it would prevent getting dirt and grease on everything I touch going into the house.

I have a vanity to go on the wall outside of the bathroom (opposite side of the wall) that will have a single basin stainless sink in it. I had briefly considered putting a utility tub on the shop side of the wall but decided against it. I've had a utility tub before and never really used it.

What are the red and blue feed lines higher up on the wall for, what will they feed?

I've now been in my house for 10 years as of the 7th and have gotten kudos from people from the neighborhood, it does the heart good...

Some of the big intimidating projects get less bad over time, a lot of stuff doesn't phase me much anymore...

I added a utility sink to my laundry room as there was a drain and two water outlets next to the washer and dryer, I bought one from the habitat for humanity re-store and plumbed it all up nice and good, tried it out for the first time and it just drained into the wall... turns out someone replumbed the drain for the washer and just left the sink drain just cut off in the wall for some reason... I hate people... :)
