Ok, picked this 86 b2 up for next to nothing. It's in rough shape, but its good in all the right spots. It will ne my wifes and my family hauler that will stay street friendly for now. Currently it is running on a bastard set of leafs and f150 coils with a 3" body lift and 33" thornturds. It is running the d28 and 7.5 welded. 2.9, auto, with a 1350 manual case. It had spent its life as a mud bogger, trail runner.
My plan is the fix it back up, straighten out the body, swap the original front clip back on, build bumpers and sliders, and simple interior cage. Drive train will stay 2.9/auto for now, swap case out for a 1354m, maybe an E case for now, stretch the wheelbase to around 100". The rear will be a spring under frame, shackle thru the frame using explorer leafs. The rear axle will be a 14 bolt converted to disk brakes, with a pinion guard, shaved bottom, welded spiders, and 4.10 gears for now. Front will be a 3 link with a track bar using coils and ballistic link mount/coil pirch. The axle will be a '02 dodge Dana 60, non cad. The rest I will figure out as I go.
Pictures as I got it in the garage...sad panda but I can see potential
Axles I am using
Stripped the bumpers and front clip
Stripped the 14 bolt
Tore the old axle out...muddy mess
Made leaf spring hangers
Mocked up the 14 bolt, pushed the axle back about 4". Tank clearance may be an issue
Picture to show the stretch. Gonna trim the fender to clear.
More to come, stay tuned....
