Hello,

I'm pretty new to leaf springs and had a couple of questions. I have a 2000 explorer limited and the leaves need replaced. While I'm at it I would like to gain about 2" of lift since I'm replacing anyway but am very frugal so looking at the cheapest way to do this. I have a spare explorer I use for parts so I was wondering if I could mix and match leaves from them both to make a pack that rides decent and will gain about 2" lift? I've looked into junkyard F150 springs but the yard around me wanted $75 per side! I can almost buy new for that. Otherwise I thought about AAL but since mine are already worn I would like to replace them in someway. Any recommendations?

Yes, you can mix and match whatever works.

I think the Limited Explorers are lower than normal anyway, especially with the air shocks... My Limited is lower than the Eddie Bauer even with it's air suspension turned off, I turned the torsion bars up a little and have meant to go further for a couple years...

My '90 Ranger has a mix of some random leafs lifting it, started with an Explorer main leaf then whatever we found that had more arch...

Making some lift shackles would help too, they're pretty simple on the Explorers.

What is the best way to stack them together? Just add one or two of the short springs or maybe add the long one with the ends cut off?
