It's not a direct swap, as far as wiring, but the wiring isn't bad if you get a good chiltons book for both rigs. I had my 4.0 running after pulling the 2.9 on a friday and working on it over the weekend and after work for 3 days. Are you talking mazda pickup or navajo? The navajo 8.8 (31 spline) is spring under so the perches need to be flipped and spaced correctly, the pickup 8.8 (28 spline) is spring over but the perches will still need to be moved to the correct spacing. Take the D35 front as well, you will need to shorten your front driveshaft 1" to use it (shops charge around $75 to shorten them), the 8.8 you will need to swap the u joint flange as well.

No they're exactly the same. Be prepared to do some splicing, OR swap out the dash, steering collum, pedal assembly, ect and the entire wiring harness, then it's a splice free swap.

search this swap forum for the particulars, a factory EVTM for each truck is much better than chiltons or haynes crap.the diagrams are actually accurate and easy to use.pretty cheap on e-bay also.
