Ok I recently installed the full length center console from an exploder into my manual 97 4.0. And I'm having a problem shifting into 5 and reverse due to the console. apparently I've got a sloppy shifter and I didn't even know it, this being my first manual vehicle I never questioned the play I had in the shifter.

And now down to my question, I read the article on how to replace the bushings,
http://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/winter2007/shifterbushings.htm
But I found this from a different post,
http://allstategear.com/M50D Shifter Repair Kit.htm
So would this kit from allstategear work or would it just be better to go to the local dealership and get the parts listed in the trs magazine?

I know it's wordy but thank you for sticking in and chiming in with any help :icon_thumby:

I was going to post something helpful, then I saw that you said "stealership" so I won't.

The "stealership" as you call it is the one I would go with. Yeah you are going to spend more but what is shipping for the other part that you posted. Could cost you the same in the end.

Hey buddy I would like to take this time to apologize, I meant no offense when I put up the post. I'm not here to stir up the water, just here to enjoy the rangers.

Explorin94 if you didn't like the use of the word either my apology goes out to you as well.

As for the shifter bushing I probably will go down to the dealer and get it from them, it will just be easier that way since theres no wait and no real chance of a mix up

Doesn't bother me at all. I have worked for plenty of dealerships and don't hold any grudge if someone says that.....cause 9 times out of 10 it's a true fact.

It only bugs me because in my own personal experience I've seen a lot more dishonesty at independent shops than at any of the dealerships I've ever worked at. That and I bust my butt to bring home not quite enough to live off of.

Also, in addition to the shipping thing, you get what you pay for.

Well like I said I meant no harm or disrespect to anyones livelihood.

I went to the dealership and ordered 4 of the parts, the guy behind the counter said you really don't need the shims, so it came out to 46.03. Hopefully I don't need those shims but if I do I'll try to reuse the old ones. the downside is that I won't get the bushings until wednesday

You would have been fine with the parts from Allstate Gear. They're actually pretty good people to deal with. I've bought alot of bushings/inner boots from them in the past and i've saved hundreds of dollars in doing so.

Anyone know how to knock out the roll pins easily? I dont really want to remove the whole center console but I'm starting to fear that it may be my only option

Aw hell I couldn't stop myself and I pulled the console. The pins came out smooth
