Well, I pulled my lockright out of my other BII to put it in my new one but after I got it installed it seems like it is skipping teeth under load. It makes load clanks like it wont stay locked together.

I only had it installed for about maybe a year in my other one and only have around 2,000-3,000 miles on it. I pulled it out and installed it twice just in case I was missing something, but with no luck.

Anyone have this problem before? I'm going to try to contact lockright to see what they say. I'm kind of disappointed being that that's $300 out the window.

Have you checked clearences? How often does it happen? Mine skips a tooth on the drivers side maybe once a week, I consider it normal and attribute it to the fact that Todd beat on it before I got it. I would guess the clearence between the drivers is too wide, also do you have a notched cross pin?

I ran the full cross pin, it skips around every corner when there is load applied. I'm surprised it didn't do any damage to the teeth.

If the tolerances are to wide... how would I go about fixing that?

Shim the side gears in some more, there are specs in the install manual for how much gap you should have between the 2 couplers

Oh and you did put the thrust washers back in right?

You know what? Would a missing thrust washer (the real narrow ones right?) on one side be enough to cause it to skip? That could be possible, I might have completely over looked that.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
yeah it would, cause with no visible problems its the only one that makes sense.

Thanks guys for the brainstorming. I'm going to re-assemble it tomorrow (correctly) and see how it works. I'll be sure to post up the results!

Plus the thrust washers keep the lockright from wearing into the carrier itself, you need them in there.

Glad i could be of help.
