One of my lights on my instrument panel went out and i want to change the lights from green to blue. I did some searching and couldnt find very much on this without changing the whole face. sorry if it has been discussed before

1)What is the best way to do this?

2)What size Leds will fit?

3)Wheres the best place to get them?

Since you have an 01 to change the color (other forums plus this one says on your model you'll have to remove the green film on the back side of your gauges, on my 94 I didn't so you'll have to get verification). The bulbs are 194's. Most have gotten them from www.superbrightleds.com as I did. The best option is get more than you need. I bought 10 for the dash, HVAC and ash try and used all of them. Course leave the lights for turn signals, hazard and such alone unless you really want all one color. If you do you'll need more.

what he said.:icon_thumby:

However, I thought that with LEDs you didnt have to remove the film. Something about how the type of light output from and LED is different that a regular bulb, but Im not really sure. If others are saying you need to then youre best off doing it unless someone confirms that you dont need to.

Thanks for the info dudes. Im going to look into getting a white face too so i think that will solve the film problem.

not necessarily ... the green film is on the back face of the dials. If you get some and look through them, they should be clear or white. If the dial faces are green on the back, you will still have to scrape them.

Because of the way LEDs create and emit light, the film on the back of the dials may not affect color.

You need the 194 LEDs, and you need 6 at the minimum. If you want to do more than the instrument panel, plan for more than 6.

this thread explains how to disassemble the dash to change everything over to LED, yours being a 2000 will be exactly like his unless you have an automatic trans. The "film" everyone is referring to is actually blue (at least it is in mine) and the incandescent bulbs make it look green. in the thread the O.P. used bright white and his dash is BLUE, I used high intensity red LED's and mine actually come through as red! here is my dash just for reference, it is the last post.

Read his thread and study the pics, there are actually TWO different size bulbs in the cluster. I did the smaller ones for the turn signals and other "warning" lights also. Just beware that whatever color your "high beam" indicator is, if you get the same color LED version it will be retarted obnoxious bright!

i ordered 8 bulbs i only used 6 5 for the cluster, and 1 for the hvac so i put the left over 2 in the turn signals.
