Texas and California are talking about rolling black outs during the hot weather because they can't generate enough power. No one's discussing upgrading the grid to handle a few million charging stations. Swapping the battery in a hybrid Escape or Fusion takes way more than 2 minutes.

Few Million? Last I looked there were less then 130 k gas stations.. .they are like an endangered species in Detroit.


Texas and California choose ...CHOOSE TO NOT BUILD CONVENTIONAL POWER PLANTS . TEXAS went big on renewables....but ..after last winter. Maybe some sense will prevail in Texas.


California....they are fawked.

They choose to not manage their water and woods....to the benefit of humans.

I wonder if they meant $9 for a complete fill? Because $9 per gallon equivalent is absurd and absolutely not correct.

As an example, this more recent article from the same magazine cites a range of $.05/mile for home charging up to $.10/mile with a supercharger.

The way they worded it.. "9 bucks for the energy equivalent of a gallon of gas".. makes it seem like it's not a complete fill.

Could be one hell of a typo though.. idk.

Yeah, the more I read it they repeat the number in various ways so it's not a simple typo.

they worded it wierd. a tesla has equivalent of 2.5 gallons of gas yet gets 300 miles ranges. so at $9 for equivalent gas. sounds to me like they would have spent $15-20 for a full charge

Run the numbers, and it doesn't even come close to $9/gallon for same energy

Supercharger equates to 1,000miles per hour
So 15min supercharge = 250miles
$20 charge cost for 250miles is 0.08/per mile
Gas car getting 30mpg, 30 x .08 = 2.40 per gallon

So not getting their math??
