Ford's dumbest ideas ever , a plastic diff cover!!! I thought it was just leaking , but was cracked in two places.
Back in the early 90's I bought a used 80 something F-100 for some parts I needed for my 86 F-150 , and when I was finished with the F-100 I just cut it in half and made a utility trailer out of it. And after finding my cracked diff cover I got to thinking that the F-100 had a 8.8 diff and went and looked ,,, yup ,,, got me a steel one now !!View attachment 10502

Well its up on blocks and I started unbolting the front end , or should say un-riviting every thing ,,, my lift came in on my second last day off so I only got things half started before I had to go back to the mine. I don't accomplish too much when I'm on night-shifts so I'll be back at it on Tuesday.

Surprisingly I don't have too much invested in it , most all the stuff came out of my bone yard , and only had to buy the 6 inch I beam and the 8500lb winch , I doubt I have $1200 into it , that includes the winch.
If you like I'll take a bunch of more detailed pics and post'em up on how I have it all set up . :icon_thumby:
For sure man post up as many pics as you want!:icon_thumby:

Well , it's been a busy last couple days . My 4 inch suspension lift is in , and got the 3 inch body lift all buttoned down and man am I ever disappointed.
The back end is sitting sky hi and the front end is still dragging on the ground. I rolled the 35's under and bolted them up and still not a chance in hell of turning the wheel.
I have scoured and search all the old threads on swapping out coils to the f-150's so now I'm gonna take a walk down the hill and do some measuring on a couple old 150's I got . Hoping i can get the front end up off the ground a couple more inches. :dunno:

I'm just saying that , with 4inch suspension lift and 3 inch body lift , there should be plenty of room for 35's, but it's not.
gonna try to beef up the front with F-150 springs ... I don't believe that the springs I got from Superlift are the correct ones. Right out of the box they appeared way lighter and almost the same length as my stock coils.
The track bar lowering kit and pivot brackets are 4 inch drop , and the Pittman arm looks to be correct.

Ha , the Super Lift springs aren't 15 inches out of the truck.
Here are the springs laying on the ground.
View attachment 10633
The clean black ones are the ones I got in the lift kit , and are almost the same size as my stock Ranger springs, and are even smaller diameter then the stock springs. the longer and heavier looking springs are out of my old 89 F-150.
I swapped out the Super Lift springs to the F-150 springs and gained an additional 3.5 inches , plenty of room for the 35's now. :icon_cheers:
