Hey guys. I came back to the ranger crowd. I used to have a 94. Traded that for a 86 fox body mustang. And as of yesterday i picked up a 87 ranger. I got a few questions about it.

So far i know its a 2.0 5 speed. Has about 194k on it. Its a base model ranger. No a/c. Manual steering and brakes.

My questions are, what are the common known issues with the 2.0, whats the make of the 5 speed in it, and stuff to look out for.

Also, what would it take to convert it to power brakes?

Major things on the 2.0 are the timing belt. And normal wear items. (Regular tune up items)

87 should have the toyo kogyo 5 speed. Which I believe is a Mitsubishi transmission. Unless someone swapped it out for a Mazda m5od.

Power brakes require a brake booster. The vacuum tube from the intake. And the rod from the pedal is different. Quite and easy swap though
