Hi.
I have a problem with the ignition cylinder on my 1988 XLT. Currently, the ignition works without a key, so I'm trying to put in a new ignition cylinder. I already took it off, but the problem comes when trying to put the new one since the key just doesn't turn to the off position so I can take the key out.

Just to make sure I tried turning left the piece at the bottom of the inside of the cylinder with a
screwdriver (red circle) but I couldn't, it feels a bit floppy tho.

Now I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I need to change something else on the steering column.
Thanks

What about the steering wheel lock?
The lock pin needs to slide up onto the steering wheel to turn key to off position

Do you need to push the little button under the steering wheel to turn key to lock.

Oh, thanks!
I guess that's it, I had no idea since my truck has been working without a key since I got it.
I'll try that when I come home later today. Thanks 👌

Update. Yes, that was it. So simple. Thanks a lot
