I've seen all the 302 swaps on here and, while they are great, I hate to be a follower. I know I'm going to get all kinds of people thinking "Why would you want to?" and all that, but is it feasible to even think about dropping a 390 into a Gen II Ranger? I have a buddy that has a 390 that came out of a 70 Mercury Cyclone GT. Its just sitting in his barn. I was thinking about making him an offer, but I wanted to know if it could be done before I waste my money and his time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The 390's a great engine, but it's not really suited for a Ranger swap. Too heavy, and there's only one aftermarket rear sump oil pan made for it (or was) There was only one factory rearsump pan too (mid 70's 4wd pickup) then you have headers to consider. No off the shelf designs that will fit, you'll have to build your own.
