In keeping with the spirit of jeep builds on trs I figured I'd name this thread similar to Adams (littebigfoot)
Basic background of this project is the jeep originally was used for hauling wood out of my family's land in Wisconsin. The stock 4.2l was junk, the axles were weak and it needed more beef.Enter the 1987 3/4 ton Chevy, picked that pig up for 500 bucks with a running 350 and good axles. The original plan was to stick the jeep body on the Chevy chassis but the chevy chassis couldn't be shortened enough to allow a decent drive shaft angle.
Fast forward 2 years of sitting and doing nothing I decided it was time to get to work on this bastard child.Adam came down and helped today and we got the Chevy chassis stripped down after a few hours and having to deal with the jeep body and other rusty crap.
So the 350,th350,np 208,10 bolt front, and 14 bolt rear are going into the jeep and I'm hoping it'll be done before next wheeling season so Adam and I can hit the trails hard and pull him out
On to the pictures
using the lift to break the transfer case free of the cross member( it was pretty stuck)
Yanking the motor, tranny, and t-case out.Easy as pie with a forklift
After that crap was out we wheeled it back in.Undid the ubolts, brakes, and steering and wheeled it back out where the forklift would help out once again.
Hooray for 14bolts and 10 bolt fronts. The 10 bolt will be receiving an axle truss do to weak axle tubes and me wanting to look cool
posing on the axle which is comparative to my cack
