My credo
Leave it better than you found it.
Might check the tech library for what will fit without modifications.

I just did my speakers... Same vehicle, Same problem... Mine was a faulty connection in behind the stereo unit. I just tore them apart and re spliced them, work great now. The doors should be maybe 5 screws and mine popped right off. I don't think 6x9s will fit with out modding. 6x8s drop right in.

Where did you do the splicing, at back of stereo or at speaker connection?
Thanks so much?
Did your sound in one speaker or another kinda fade in & out or get static at times?

I did my speakers and in behind the deck.... I did the speakers first and it was still cutting in and out , so I pulled my deck out and found 2 factory connectors on the same wires as the wiring harness. I re spliced both of them properly with terminal blocks. Speakers work perfect now. Took me maybe 2 hours in total, for all 4 speakers and resplicing, took me a while to trace the faulty connection.
