Son's 3.0 99 Ranger with a rebuilt coolant pump failed on the hiway.. The pump is quirting coolant out the drip hole.. I never saw one go away and lose so much coolant so quickly.
He called and I took the bobcat trailer to load her up and bring her home. So there it sits in the shop waiting for us to help her out.
I will first unscrew the fan, with a BFH, while the belts are still on it. Then I will pull the fan and schroud. Then the radiator. Then we will get it out and install a NEW one. Then back together again..

I have an odd feeling big jim has done this several times:) I had a chevy that lost its water pump right as I got home and it was pissing coolant like there was no tomorrow. It is crazy how much you can lose in a short time though, I bet being your son he knew just what to do in that situation though, probably saved the motor with some quick thinking:)

Why are you pulling the radiator?

Fourwheelford... Yep! He knew he would ruin the thing if he ran it. Lucky he carries a cell phone. One call and everything worked out right.

Tririder... Just to get it out of the way. One bad move, one slip of a wrench, and there is a hole in the radiator! PLUS another four inches of room in there.
As you grow older you will become more cautious.

I agree.
2 clamps and a couple fasteners, drained and out of the way.
