Got good results for motor magic engine flush.

05 silverado had an oil change. Fired it back up and the lifter had pretty much collapsed from trash. It was causing a slight miss in the engine. Ran motor magic through it and it was half as loud. Change the oil and ran it at 4k for a minute. It idled down and after a minute it slightly came back. Held it a 4 k again and motor is super quiet. Customer called my after he started it this morning in 30's temps. He said it was still quiet. Maybe this stuff is magic in a bottle. Of course it does have diesel and kerosene in it.

Motor medic or liquid molly for me on every other change. Always amazes me how much crap they flush out. Yes I know they're both mostly diesel and atf. Makes me sleep better.

Been a long time since I ran one of those through one of mine, or even much thought about it.
Might be a good idea to do my Explorosaurus with it though, as its maintenance history is questionable, and has 220,000 miles. Probly just been driven and dropped at quickylube ever so often.
It sounds and runs good tho

Are there any additional methods other than just follow label directions?

That's why I haven't even thought about it for so long, my 93 came with 12 years of perfect maintenance records, while the 96 I just got came with at least 6 quarts of dirty oil, and a near black engine compartment(except for one shiny alternator) so I'm wondering if it might not be a bad idea on this one?

I'm not saying the flush stuff doesn't work. I've used it with great results. (never on something I've maintained). My point is, if you need it... someone f***ed up.

You could have a million miles on an engine, if you use quality oil and change it every 3k it's not possible for sludge and gunk to build up. Period.

Sorry, I forgot... if you have a 2.9 the coolant cycling through the oil does tend to gum stuff up no matter what you do.

Pfft. There's so little coolant in my oil that I have to inject water to keep it happy

I understood your point and believe it's true, but was asking if a motors maintenance is questionable at best(even though it seems to be in decent working condition) couldn't it be a good idea?

Absolutely. Anytime I buy a used car the first thing I do is run some kerosene through it and change the oil (sometimes more than once) because you never know how the previous owner maintained it. I treat any used car I buy as if the previous owner was a complete and total moron, which in most cases is true. Flush all the fluids, new filters, basic tune up etc no matter what...

I always just used pure kerosene though. Never really tried any of the off the shelf flushes because most of them are just kerosene anyway. I've heard of using ATF too because it's super high in detergents but again, only ever used pure simple kerosene.

I watched a guy burn carbon off his valves by racing the engine and pouring atf into the carborator.
Then drove it from TN to CA. Next thing he was sending pictures from flying around in Hawaii. Then he drove it back from LA to Nashville

I dunno if I'd go mixing your own concoctions. Better off just buying the off the shelf stuff and sticking to the directions. When I use kerosene I use about half to a full quart depending on the size of the engine. Run the engine at idle for 10 mins or so and drain it. If it's really gross I'll fill it back up with cheapo oil, more kerosene and repeat. You never wanna drive with any kind of engine flush in the oil. Only do it at idle and then drain it immediately.

I never heard about the kerosene thing.does it really clean entire internal of the engine?
