Why full width vs the same F150 axles shortened ?

Other than cost why the FW ?

I have an 8.8 out of a Lvl II Ranger and was thinking of using it with a narrowed F150 D44.

This is incredibly old...but I figured I would answer now that I'm back from my soul-searching hiatus :)

I believe FW offers more stability, the stance looks meaner to me, and I can look out my window and see exactly where my tires are (Like an F1 car if you will). Not only that, I don't have to go through the pain of narrowing the axle and possibly mucking that up. Plus, here in Texas we don't get bothered for not having mudflaps or being too wide.

I see you went with a 9" instead of an 8.8.

That's good.

I never understood why it was such an awful thing to have the tires sticking out past the body line.
