Explorer console swap, floor gap?

For those who have done the full length explorer swap has anyone come up with any clever ideas to fill the gap between the floor? It came out of an explorer with thick carpet and padding but my truck just has rubber which is alot thinner so there's a small gap under it. Otherwise it fits perfectly.

My thoughts are getting some kind of foam for under the edges?

Just got it mocked up right now. Still need to clean and paint it then bolt it in.

Foam under the rubber mat sounds reasonable enough; I'd give that a try. I like a rubber mat floor in a truck.

I can't really put foam "under" the rubber floor. I'd have to take the seats out and take the whole thing out which lol no.

I was thinking foam rubber almost like a gasket around the bottom edge of the console?

Yea I definitely love my rubber floor, I'd never get carpet for this truck. But the console was obviously designed with carpeting in mind lol.

These things may do the trick. Gotta take a good measurement. Something "squishy" like the door molding might be best so it can conform better. I knew you guys would have some bright ideas...

My first thought was exactly how I approach carpentry...

Do your best and caulk the rest.

Edit... The stuff like I posted got used a bunch back in my buggy shop days. We used it mainly for installing fiberglass bodies... easy to work with and gave a nice detailed finish.

I will however collect dust and spills in the channel.

I was thinking cover the seats (like with a blanket to protect them), then removing the step plates and kick trim, and folding the whole rubber mat back over the seats to the tracks. Seems that would give the needed access to most of the area where the console will be.

Anyway, the pinch molding / weatherstrip suggestions look good, too, and a lot easier.

On a related topic anyone found a good plastic/vinyl spray paint that best matches the charcoal grey interior? The console is a very light grey and my truck is darker grey. If not I'm just gonna do the whole thing black...

Do you know the paint code? Shouldn't be too hard to match it from there.

No I tried to find it before but could only get the code for the exterior paint color. No where on the truck does it list the interior code.
