Last night I pulled my ranger into the drive way (on a hill), I set the emergency brake as tight as possible and put it in 1st gear low box to insure that it will not roll away (Its really icy and snowy out). So this morning I go out and start it up and put it in neutral while its still in low box. While its warming up I chipped off most of the ice and snow. After that I went inside to get a drink and I look out the window its rolling away and just missed my dads 06 KIA, it slides across a tree and into a bank. :bawling: Now I have 2 huge ass dents in my door and bed.

The emergency brake wasn't holding the tires well enough. All of the tires on the vehicle were rolling when I looked out the window.

at least its not ur fault, my bro parks roadside because we have a small driveway and we're at the top of a decent sized hill. when he started it up to go to school something sounded funny in his engine so he shut the car off and went back inside. Few hours later when he woke up to go see what was wrong with the car it was down the hill smashed into a guard rail because he forgot to set the e brake

find a piece of wood approximately 4 x 4 x 12, tie a length of string to it. Stick it behind the wheel, the string is so you don't have to get out the truck to pick it up. 4 x 4 parking brake.

I'd rather just readjust my parking brake properly.

That's actually a good idea...tie one end to the box somewhere and just weigh anchor when you wanna go somewhere...:icon_thumby:

I don't trust my e-brake to far. So every time I park, I push the clutch in to see if its holding (since I park on a slope for work). One time, it was barely holding. Just enough not to let it roll away, but not enough to prevent it from rolling.

I think he left it 4low so that the front wheels are also locked by the e-brake. Just no engine lock brake with the tranny being in neutral.

The Parking Brake can not lock the front axle.
If the transfer case is is 4x4 all four wheels will be locked together... but then you have two not all that great brakes trying to hold back four wheels.
