EGR mod

new to forum
ive modified my egr tube to suck in fresh cold air from my air intake (some kind of cheap cold air intake from pep boys i think its called a spectre)
correct me if im wrong but i thought the reason the egr is there is for emissions, so i decided instead of having nasty exhaust fumes filling up my cylinders, i would have it run off oxygen rich air, any thoughts?

Where do you think the nasty exhaust fumes come from?

The EGR fills the cylinders with inert material (filler) so your engine doesn't have to suck in fresh air when it is cruising and doesn't require much power. It doesn't hurt anything and you are probably confusing the computer by dumping extra air in there.

well my check engine light does come on but theres so many things wrong with my truck ive come to the realization that i might as well experiment with a couple ideas before i have to diagnose everything for smog
