I tried to smog my Bronco 2 today and the guy said it has a check engine light that is not lighting up. I pulled apart the dash and I don't see one anywhere!!! If it doesn't have one, how do I prove it to the smog guy?

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
It did not, 85 and maybe 86 didn't either if memory serves. If a sensor failed the EEC would ignore it and plug in a good value from it's memory so the driver wouldn't know. Then they'd leave the lights on after driving to work on a foggy morning and kill the battery. Dead battery = no memory and the running problem is front and center.

No it didn't but you "may" be able to add one

You need to find your OBD1 connector in engine bay, it looks like this: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/OBD_I.shtml

The slot labelled Self-Test OUT would be the CEL(check engine light) bulb ground if you had one
Put a test light(or volt meter) from Battery Positive to this slot
Turn on the key, engine off
You should get test light on or show 12v on meter, because slot is now grounded by the computer
Start engine
Light should now be off or 0v on meter, assuming no Codes in computer, lol

If so then you could install 12v bulb in dash, cluster will have 12v key on power, tap that wire, there will be 2 or 3
Then run ground wire from "the slot" to that bulb
You now have a CEL

But smog place should be able to look up your model and see there was NO CEL installed at factory

Up to 86 ranger definitely no cel light. Assume the same for b-2. I had to tell the tech that there was no cel from factory and he had to confirm before I passed.

No they didn't. My 87 Ranger only has an emissions light, no check engine light. My 88 Bronco 2 does have a check engine light however.

The emissions light wasn't a fault indicator, it was a service reminder.
