i just pulled a dana 35 limited slip diff out of a jeep cherokee to put in my exploer. but hears the question, when pulled it out of the jeep it the pumkin was filled with tranny fluid, does that sound right? why would that be, the diff is in good shape doesn't slip. just woundering what i should refill it with. tranny fluid or gear lube

i would definantly say check that one really good. sounds like someone who dont know much about maintenance added the wrong fluid to it. and of course refil it with the Recommended weight Gear lube

It may have been filled with ATF because of the L/S for the clutches (if thats what it was and not the torsen), Or a combination of gear lube and too much friction modifier....

Just add the fluid recommended for your truck because its lubricating the bearings in your truck not the thing you pulled out. And add the friction modifier...
