I have read several articles about d30's and didn't see anyone address my question so hopefully someone has an answer. This is not going to be a crazy trail rig and I will probably be running 31s or 33s max. I have blown through 2 sets of stock hubs and 3 cv shafts and just want to get rid of the torsion bar system. I am thinking about a SAS, but I want to avoid as much welding as possible due to not having access to a welder. I was planning on getting a front axle from a jeep and running it with leafs. I would like to go spring over so I know I will have to weld on new perches, but the big question that I have is can I through bolt stock ranger leaf hangers up front or will the geometry of the frame not allow me to or is the axle not wide enough to allow the perches to go out that far?

It's far from bolt on deal to be honest. I did soa first and it made my 33s look small. With out a welder or the know how to weld correctly I woul not suggest the swap.

I was planning on having a friend weld the perches on the axle housing but I was trying to avoid welding up the hangers if there was away to get around it. I can fabricate some parts at work but I can not pull my truck in and weld anything on to the frame. I was just wondering if it would be possible for stock hangers to be bolted on.

From my limited experience I would say use bolts to mock it up but have your buddy weld the hangers. They take alot of stress and I don't see bolts holding up. I could be wrong though.

I replaced my shackle hangers and those are bolted on. I know on average the bed is a lot lighter but max payload has to be heavier than the weight of the 3.0.
