I have not removed the balance assembly yet. the Mazda guys that swap to a 2.5 say it doesn't do much other than add a 19 lb chunk of steel to the crankcase, and take up more room that 1 qt of oil. its gear driven straight off the crank. I'll get it off soon, the engine is still on a stand.
intake options are my next real hurdle. I could drop $350 + for a 2.5 global RWD intake, or fab up adapters to fit my existing 2.3 which has smaller runners. this will be a daily driver, maybe the slightly increased intake velocity of the smaller 2.3 runners will help out below 3k. now, if I can just figure out where I misplaced my ambition....
