Currently I drive my 2001 2.3 Short bed and I wrecked it last winter and It looks like a POS.
I saw on craigslist a >2001 ranger< that I think it might be a decent option for a swap.

The advice I need from you guys is about the price of the shell I'm looking at and if I am going to do the swap what should problems if any should I expect to run into.

The ad says the 3.0 is shot but I have yet to drive the 65 miles to look at the truck yet.

So in short.
Is 1900$ to steep for the shell if its not too rusted out or beaten up?

If I go look it, do you guys have any advice where the problem areas will be on the truck?

is the 2.3 to 3.0 shell going to require any fab If i have two complete trucks?(the 3.0 wouldn't run of course).

$1900 is too much to pay for anything that doesn't run, no matter why you are interested in it.

As for swapping everything over, shouldn't be an issue.

Well.... it "runs" as he claims but im assuming the worst.

still though what would be a good starting point for a shell in good shape?

Yes, that's too much for what you will be getting. Most go for scrap metal prices unless it is in really good shape and complete (not necessarily running). Find out what a running 3.0 of that vintage goes for and work downward from there...

I see them on advertised for anywhere from $500 and up...so all depends on the condition/rust/miles/etc...

I totally agree with Adam on this. In fact 1900 is about what a running 2001 Ranger is worth. 500 for a non runner is tops, unless it is extremely clean and low miles, then I might go up to 800

I recently bought a truck for just the body, I paid $850, with almost no rust anywhere. I felt that was too much.
