Computer always has updates to install. Possibly a virus?

I'm running vista, and you know how it installs updates when you shut down your computer?

Well, every time I shut it down it has updates to install. Seems odd to me that there's so many. I shut it down every night, and it's "installed" updates each time for the past week. Do you think it's a virus?

Spybot and Avast aren't picking anything up.

moslty not important stuff, just bugs, all they do is slow down the internet, i have the auto-update function OFF

I doubt it is a virus. Try downloading Windows Defender from Microsoft and see if it finds anything.

All updates are for a reason. Having auto update off is not a good idea.

yeah its not a virus, a friend of mine -who fixes computers told me that they werent that important, soo i run windows doctor some times around to fix up any errors, that way i keep the system running good and the update doesnt take much of my internet connection. ccleaner is good also for cleaning and fixin registry errors

The updates are VERY important. They are created to fix problems with the operating system. Unless you check for updates every other day, then you are missing out on a lot of good changes to Windows.

mmm ok im gonna update it this week, thanks for the advice, oo and i tried the mod u posted to spped up the boot up, and works great im running xp
