codes that dosen`t exist

I took my truck to a shop and they hooked the computer up to a scanner several times and one time they said they got false codes. I`m still having electrical problems. It is starting to get worse. What could cause that to happen?

I asked but they dint write it down to remember. However, they did say one of them started with a seven.lol Sorry for the lack of info but that is all I have to work with. Every sensor has been tested or replaced so I think it is narrowed down to connections, wiring, or the computer.

Also, my tach goes crazy only when it acts up (jumps from 0 to correct rpm or in between). I recently noticed something happened to the wire going to crank shaft sensor. I can see two insulated wires and the aluminum insulation underneath the outside rubber insulation. There is a bit of aluminum insulation missing as well at the outside rubber insulation. I assume the aluminum is insulating the signal wire. How would be the best way to fix that? I hope I explained it clear enough.

I am a bit confused there. Aluminum is a conductor, not an insulator.

That is actually a shield. It's in there to prevent any interference from other electrical components.

It almost looks like it's been burnt. Or is it worn down?

I had weird problems and codes and changed a lot of parts nothing worked I took the computer out and the diodes leaked on the board, look for black circles under the diodes bought a new computer from autozone that fixed the problem

It is not burnt. The harness is just spread open.

I wouldnt trust any place that comes out of the shop and says..."you've got codes that dont exist" and then dont even have them written down. I've spent my own time looking into things on customers cars, this would have been one of those times. The codes would have been written down for, at least, my own personal curiosity.

How is the best way to to repair the wire to the crank shaft sensor?

If the actual rubber/plastic insulation is not broken just wrap the whole thing tightly in electrical tape.

Earlier today the ranger was running like poo so I pushed real hard on the wiring harness going to the computer and right after that it ran like poo for less than a mile but then I stopped at a stop light and when I took off it ran great. Its ran with no problem ever since. I`m not positive if it is just a quiescence but this is the second time I had this result. The first time is when I cleaned the connections on a bunch of sensors and I remember pushing on the harness going to the computer. I`m not sure if I am on to something but I would like to get yalls thoughts about it.
