I like dealing with plasti-dip way more than vinyl wraps/tapes. Just easier to spray something on than deal with heating, stretching, shaping, getting the bubbles out, trim it just right... blah I don't even like tinting windows. Spray paint everything!

Teach me hoe to spray a Carbon Fiber pattern please?
I get it that Plasti-dip is easy and fast.
BUT I WANT THE TAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The tapes can have colored patterns on them like blue carbon fiber or purple camo. Can't do that with plast-dip in a can. There is a company in town that does the REAL plasti-dip process but they know how good they are and charge accordingly. Also I would have to take the parts off of the vehicle and wait for their busy schedule to catch up to my not so busy schedule.
Tape it is. I will post results in about 6-8 weeks. Gotta wait for payday. then gotta wait for shipping.

Oh man... you never mentioned carbon fiber. I thought you just wanted the "murdered out" thing. Carbon fiber is such a higher level of.... ugh... just... ugh...

Send this to a honda civic forum.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Proper surface prep for plastidip is to wipe the dust off lol. It's infinitely less finnicky than paint as far as adhesion goes.

The heavier the coat, the better it comes out. It's self leveling, and takes a little getting used to, but you wanna lay it on real fat and wet. Spraying until riiiiiight before it starts to run is the way to do it. The more coats you do the stronger it is, and it'll peel off (when/if you want to remove it) way easier with more coats on it. With only a few coats it'll rip off in little pain in the ass pieces, lots of coats and it'll sheet off a whole panel in one piece to problem.

Wd40 removes it pretty well too I hear.

Fake carbon fiber is cheesy a.f in my opinion. Right up there with plastic spinner hubcaps. Get a couple cans of plastidip and call it good.

I'm not murdering out an old junker. I have a brand new vehicle that has poorly place chrome trim and some cheesy plastic peices that i want to match. Will probably a satin black or gun metal gray. But thanks for all the Plasti-dip info. I have used it before. If surface prep was not my issue then i am really not impressed with how easy it scratches and peels off. If removal was my main concern, Plasti-dip is the answer because it peels off so easy.

I did the raised section of my rangers hood with black plasti dip, ran out of paint 3/4 of the way through... lesson learned. Sooo much careful prep work with the tape but I was so happy in the end that I could just peel it off like nothing happened.

I'm gonna try again at some point with much more paint ready.

You could have gotten more paint and finished the job.

From what I understand when you tape it off you need to finish the whole job sorta quickly or when you peel the tape the plasti-dip will come off with it. If it cures completely the tape will just peel it off instead of leaving a smooth edge. No where local had more satin black so I gave up and took it off. It was my first and only attempt...

DO NOT send POLICE to his house. He's probably passed out from all the Glyptal fumes.
I thought he was done with that! He usually texts me every couple days, haven't seen him post or text me all week...
