Way back in boy scouts late 80's/early 00's we went on a trip in the scout master's inlaws conversion van. Decked out, had a tv that played over the factory speakers and the whole bit.

Also had a CB installed and when another van would radio us (we ran three vans that year) the cb would cut in over the vans speakers.

I haven't concocted the correct search query to pull up whatever the device was that did this. Not an interference bleed thru thing or anything like that, it was actually supposed to do it. Any ideas?

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Back in the Stone Age when I did car stereo and conversion vans, there were hide-away CBs which the car's speakers were wired through, and there simple select switches for a van's TV and stereo.

I looked at the stuff that snoranger linked. Interfaces sure are a lot better these days, and that route definitely looks like the way to go for what you're looking to do.

As I was pulling out my old radio I noticed it had a "interrupt" wire...

Don't think so.

Since it cut out 8 times before I got to the highway this morning (half a mile) it doesn't really matter much to me.

I just saw it marked as such and thought "I wonder if that is what that is for"
