Hello, so I am looking at doing the 302 swap in my bronco II next summer and I just wanted to buy a crate engine but I am not too sure if there is a specific one that I should get and was wondering if someone could lend me some knowledge?

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
How will you use it, how much power do you want, and how much do you plan to spend? The transmission in an 87 Bronco II won't live long behind a V8.

Nor will it even bolt up.

Sure you wanna go crate? Finding a 302 in the boneyard isnt hard, be alot cheaper and if you buy an EFI one its pretty easy to carb it.

A running F150 or fullsize Bronco makes a good donor. First off, it's really nice to see everything run before you pull it to swap into yours. Also keeps you from having to hunt for a transmission. The BW 1345 transfer case from the 1980- 1996 or so trucks is too wide to fit inside your frame rails. A NP 208 transfer is much smaller and fits between the rails very nicely. I hear that the late 90's work trucks had a manual transfer that is a good option too.

My setup is a 1990 F150 302 with the cast iron intake and Motorcraft 2100 2Bbl carb from a 1972 F100.
T-18 manual 4 speed with granny low from a 1981 F150. NP 208 transfer case from a 1978 F150.

It's hard to nail down the "perfect" donor for this project, but that's my $.02.
