Ok my V8 swap has begun. Its only a stock carbed motor. I was going to go to the junkyard and pull a tranny soon and Im thinking I wanna go for a M5OD. I have experience with those transmissions but I also wonder if there are better options out there than that. In my area T18s and 19s are becoming hard to come by. I originally wanted a M5od from a 4.2l 4x4 but those to are hard to come by. What problems will I run into with the bigger M5od? Now the bigger issue. Will any of the Full size Transfer cases fit? I kinda want to avoid getting the Advance Adapter for the 1354 cause im unsure about how to do it and how it holds up. Truck is a Regular cab short bed so will I have to lengthen the front shaft and shorten the rear?

Best manual for what? Daily driver or off road? If you are looking to use the fullsize M5 you will need a fullsize t-case or the adapter. The ranger 5 speed won't bolt up. Daily driver I would say use the fullsize M5, it has overdrive. Offroad the ZF, stronger, deep first gear and overdrive. The best about these 2 is they can use the stock clutch hydraulics. If you are driving it a lot I would leave the t18/19 and Np 435 for the offroad stuff. The was gas is overdrive is a must anymore.

the t19 is completely compatible with the 429, in fact for several years ford put it behind the 460.
