I replaced the head units in my Explorer and the wife's 95 Ranger recently, I put a Pioneer MVH-S320BT (single DIN, no CD player) in the Explorer and a Kenwood KMM-BT260U (also single DIN, no CD) in the Ranger. Pretty happy with both, I like the interface on the Kenwood better but the Bluetooth connection is kinda finicky sometimes.
I also put four Pioneer 6x8s in the Ranger and two in the Explorer + two Kenwood 6x8s. I don't have an amp and am just running them right off the head unit but the Pioneers sound much better. I can crank the volume way up in the Ranger and it sounds nice and clear, Explorer gets kinda crackly for some reason at near max volume.
