I am posting this for my cousin as his PC just died. he has a 86 supercab 4x4 and is wanting to put 31/10.50/15 tires on it as it NEEDS tires badly. he cant afford a lift right now so is there any way of getting 31's to fit with a SAFE and cheap way to lift?

uh you could get coil spacers but then you would need an alignment, and shackles. but it would still be atleast 150-200 for just the spacers and shackles. so you gotta specify budget. but otherwise cut the fenders. and they might still rub if you mount them on stock wheels

I got my belltechs for about 60$, and the washers I needed for coil spacers for about 6$. Do a self alignment, and BAM....inch or two of lift for 66$. Dont know where you think its going to cost 150-200.

F 150 springs from JY $22.00,(2") 91 exploder leafs JY $34.00,(11/2") 3 degree shims @ AZ $15.00, alignment 50 -100 bucks, AZ lowering shackles(2") $30.00. =200.00?

Oh yeah, $18.00? new hardware for the lowering shackles cause the factory bolts won't go through the shackles bushing holes, make sure you get grade 8!

I was thinking of the coil spacers and maybe a block in the rear. he has aftermarket wheels- Cragar soft 8's I think in a 15x8 its just an ongoing project as we have had to replace the tranny and motor mounts{its a 2.9} and it needs some odds and ends b/c he is overdue on his inspection. he bought it w/ a relative good body/motor/ interior but the trans crapped out and only working on it every other sat. sucks as he has to work every other weekend. i told him just to cut the fenders but he doesnt really want to do that. he is going to get an alignment after getting the tires on anyways so that won't be a problem. My dad gave him his old spare a 30/9.50/15 on a old f150 wheel but I know he has to get a 5x4.5 bolt pattern wheel for that to be used.

Yeah, I didn't either. I will. I just want to take the fenders off and do it right and curl the metal so I can reconnect the fender skirts then I put on some Rough Country fender flares!

Where do the shims go and how do you put them on?

between the leaf spring and the axle perch, it will provide you with a better pinion angle.
