The difference bbetween a 1998-up 3.0 trans and a 1995-97 trans is almost trivial.

The difference is that the stub lever is different to accomodate the
later style shift lever.

the 1988-97 shift lever uses a cotter bolt that runs fore-aft on the
passenger side of the lever

on the 1998-up lever the retaining cotter bolt runs side to side,
because the casting at the base of the lever is positioned to put
the shift knob about an inch or inch and a quarter to the rear...

If you get the lever with the trans use the later lever.

If you don't get the lever I've got a couple of the later levers laying around

OR you can simply swap your stub lever in and use your current shift lever.
