I have a 96 2.3 auto with about 200,000 miles on it. Last week I did a timing belt, crank seals, cleaned the crank sensor (oil leak), spark plugs and coils (I removed the intake and throttle and cleaned both. I also cleaned the maf sensor. Since then I have had more problems. It is now having this weird stumble when I start to accelerate. If I barely push the throttle it isn't noticable. Also, sometimes when it gets cold it will die right after I start it up once or twice but then start fine. Sometimes at red lights it seems like it is missing but I have ran it with a scanner hooked up to it and no misfires or injectors fualts are coming up. I also checked for vacuum leaks and found nothing. I have double checked it is in time twice and it is fine. I was thinking I damaged either the IAC or MAF sensor when I clened them, or maybe even the TPS. My mechanic friend thinks it is the cam and crank sensor. The only code I have gotten is a p0420 (clogged cat I think), would this causs problems like what I'm having? Another friend thinks it is my fuel pump. I tested the pressure and it is just like 1 psi below specs. Could that be it?

Have you checked your fuel pressure regulator. Too much fuel going through the injectors can severely hurt your engine's performance.

Also, double check your PCV system.
