Don't wanna chase my tail, but my truck needs a quart of oil about once a month.

I have never changed the PCV valve - had her for 6 years and I do smell oil burning when I turn it off. Thoughts??

Also, never changed my vapor canister or spark plugs and my fuel mileage seems a little low...I know, I know.....I need to keep up with these things and yes I feel like a Dumba** but will replacing these things fix the aforementioned problems?

Any helpful input would be appreciated. Thanks much!!!

I'd hit up the PCV, plugs, and all your filters. The vapor canister is not a wear item and only needs replaced if it is damaged or has been exposed to liquid fuel.

Please tell me you're not driving around with a check engine light on also.

LOL.

Yes keep up on the maintenance will save you a lot of heartache. You would be wise to put on a new wire set along with the plugs if you drive the truck often and plan on keeping for a while. You may need to put on a new valve cover gasket if the oil leakage (burning smell) is causing you issue also.

I drive my truck around with the CEL on.

Mostly because I got stuck with a SEFI/EGR computer, SEFI/EGR harness and no cam sensor or EGR components.

I was thinking about his heavy fuel consumption and possible open loop operation. You know why your lights on but many folks don't know what's behind it and keep driving anyway.
