Hey everyone had a few questions regarding a 5.0 swap. I just finished my Sas swap and now I want to do a v8 swap. I have a 94 Ford ranger 4.0 5spd. So I've been reading some post and it seems the best option for me would be a sn95 5.0 and a Aod. I don't mind swapping it to auto. My question is if I do this setup I just need to get the ecu and harness form the car I pull the motor out of correct? The aod trans dosent need a computer? I haven't seem much on the efi swaps in the 94s. I have searched around with no luck. The tcase and other things I know what I need its just the wiring and computer and what not that's got me stumped. Thanks

early aod didnt need the computer , knot shir when but I think in the early 90s the computer control the started on the auto trans. The wireing harness from the doner car would help (get the hole car if possible) also get the electrical shop manial for both your truck and the doner from helms ,I think the number may be in the tec library.

The SN95 setup fits easier than some - it is what I used. But, I have my engine sitting higher than "normal" to clear the Rancho suspension bracket. The good news is that now the A/C compressor fits without touching the frame.

And, I am not running an air pump - it does not fit. Also, no EGR - that interferes with the HVAC box.

I am running an AOD on '93, as I didn't want to mess with new electronics. You could use a 5 speed if you wanted - just use the correct computer.
