My credo
typically the difference between an $8 and a $20 haircut is way more than $12
How's it right now the biggest problem is the fuel pump relay is tripping as soon as power goes to it anybody have any advice

Check for a short and maybe a new relay, then check for shorts again

Not clear

Does the fuel pump come on and stay on with key on?

If so pull out the computer and open it up
There are 3 blue capacitors that will fail after 20+ years, seen here: http://www.auto-diagnostics.info/ford_eec_iv

Under $5 to replace them, always replace all 3

Had to replace my 1994 caps a few years ago, one of the symptoms was fuel pump on full time with key on
But there were also odd running issues that would come and go

I got my stuff to fix an old TV, but it's the same stuff. I know them as transistors, I don't know what they call them now, I got a lifetime supply off ebay for about 10 bux.
And I got a 30W (You DO want the 30W) iron from ,actually I believe it came from home depot, for about 20, with all the bells and whistles, it wasn't difficult at all to do, the TV anyway. But when my computer goes down I'm all set to go
