92 ranger part id

Good evening, was wondering if I could get some information on what this part is, I replaced the heater hose today and discovered rust had ate a hole where the heater hose connects, it comes out of the block and the rubber heater hose goes to the right side of the heater core. Can I replace this part? And how would I go about doing so. 1992 ford ranger 4.0, 435,000 miles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think thats a pressed in water nipple. Good luck getting it out. I doubt there available

435,k on your 4.0... mine only has a measley 192k... I think Rusty has hit it dead on.. you might see if someone has a blown 4.0 and see if you can remove that part in one piece and try replacing it that way... talk to parts guy at Ford, he probably does not keep those in stock but he may be able to get you a part number that you can go research. it would be a shame though if that little issue is what puts this engine in the scrap pile.

But at that mileage, it looks like the labor in removing your bad part and putting in a new one is probably more than the engine is worth. My guess is that the engine will need to be pulled to properly address the issue if you do happen to source a part for it. Although at 435k, you might be able to get lucky and weld a new pipe to the block and call it good.

an idea, try running a tap into the tube. insert bolt and slide hammer it out,,,,,,,,if it doesn't have some locking ring or bulge in the manifold.

You would need to get another lower intake manifold most likely

You may be able to seal it with JB Weld, you can't ruin it, lol, thats done

You can buy 1990-1996 4.0l OHV lower intakes from ebay, about $80
Just some wrench work to swap them

if you can get it out, pipe-thread the hole and head to a plumbing store to find a brass adapter.
if you have a machinist friend, turn down a pipe, add end lip, press it into the existing tube.
with appropriate cleaning and sealing.

check the "help" section at local parts store for something similar.
