Hi, when i put my 87 into 4x4, low or hi, there is a whirring sound i believe coming from the transf. case. It sounds like a rotating bearing that is completely shot or something. The lights in the dash come on and stay on but the 4x4 isnt engaging.
while the tires were off the ground i locked both hubs and there is some play in the front diff but shes working. rotate one tire, other turns and the driveshaft spins (thats where there was play, in the diff to the dr. shaft.)
What do you think I'm dealing with here, is there a common problem with these? The truck sat a lot in its life, its an 87 with 130,000km or about 90,000miles. I got it from an old guy, he definitely wasnt offroading with it.
Please let me know, thanks.
