Help! Spindles! I’ve started some kind of half way restoration on this ‘89 4wd Ranger. I decided to replace all the bushings in the front end, started out easy. Then I figured I should do the ball joints, uh oh. Chilton said to take the spindles off of the steering knuckle well they are rusted on, took the diff of the beam and the beams out of the truck and the ball joints are rusted on also, before I get the torch and big hammers out I figured I’d see if the spindles and knuckles are available and no one I can find anywhere has them, not ford, eBay, rock auto. If anyone knows where I can get them let me know, otherwise I’ve got a very heavy paper weight with sentimental value. I don’t have the front end code but the part number for the spindles is E3TZ-3105-B

What have you tried? I have seen front axle u-joints that I thought would not come apart, but never had a balljoint I could not bust loose. Have you tried a pickle fork? The key is to put a lot of force on the joint, and while that force is on the joint (pickle fork or some other tool) start smacking the side of the beam where the u-joint fits in. Not the spindle, but the axle beam.

If you have the spindles off the beam, then you need a ball joint press to push the balljoint out of the spindle arm.

Soak them good, put the rotor back on and work at getting it to move by working the rotor back and forth.
