I'm contemplating yankin out my 4.0 to freshen it up a little (manual trans too). i've already done the usual K&N and exhaust and was wonderin if anyone had done anythin else (throttlebody, cams, heads, etc.). just kinda lookin to see what others have done so i can get an idea and a base line.

Thanks

Fix it till its broke!
I don't think you can really squeeze out more without some heavy modifications. For the most part a freshening up will definitely make it feel like you added performance but that will be due to regaining old power. I say just rebuild it to stock and keep the reliability since it clearly has lasted this long. At most upgrade to better quality parts, but I doubt even that is needed. Maybe port match the heads and intake, maybe add some headers, drop in k&n filter, you might find a hotter cam even?

Port and polish the heads, upgrade the valves/pushrods and put a good camshaft in it. If you already have headers you are going to love the upgrades. Your gonna pull it out anyways, then just do it.
