So I bought a Brookville roadster.

All steel body 30-31 model A

65442

I gotta go get it next week in Ohio.

I bought steel to build the chassis a little while back. 2x4 11 gage

65443

The end result is gonna be

65444

With a p51 paint scheme and a pinup girl.

65445

Pinup girl undecided with breasts out obviously.....

I am thinking 351W based engine or a Cleveland. With cam and heads with carburetor. 5 speed manual trans is preferred. If I find a 9 inch cool if not 8.8 from a sn95 will be fine.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I'm glad you're not going to use an orange painted grenade like the one in the picture.

More on lines of a old power wagon fan. The paint has gotten pretty rough over the last 5 years.

Nope I make fun of my friend and his about that. Put all that money into their cars and trucks they couldn't afford real motors.

Yay! I never understood why so many building a Ford–based hot rod wanted to use Chevrolet engines. Thanks for keeping yours all–Ford. Now about your Dodge–based user name... :D

At last, a hot rod project I wanna follow. :)

I love old mopar. I will be building a 30's Plymouth down the road. Also a 70 challenger is my if I win the lottery car.

I also hate the small block chevy and LS in everything movement. They put all this money in a car then cheap out on the motor.

FE's look cool in a street rod, too, and with aluminum heads and intake they weight pretty close to a 351w.

I think the reason for Chevrolet V-8 engines in Ford–based hot rods is the sheer number of performance parts made for small-blocks in particular. The engines themselves are not superior for street use to a Ford Windsor. The Ford 302 (5.0) is an excellent choice and has plenty of performance goodies available.

I'm leaning towards a 408w now. A guy at my buddies shop bought a 29 the other day after he found out I was gonna build one. It has a 406 chevy in it from what I am told so I might as well compete.... lol

Cell video semt to me

This is a great project -- but you already know that.
I'd love to do one pf these. The three window would be my choice.

I'll be watching this build for sure. 👍

I drag raced from 95 until 2012 or so. A Camaro with a TPI 350 could almost compete with a 5.0 fox body, as long as the fox body was stone stock, running on street tires, and the driver was inexperienced. I lost track of the hours I spent baking in the sun while waiting in the staging lanes for the track crew to get the oil slick and broken SBC guts off the track.
My son and I are going to the NSRA Northeast Nationals this weekend and I know we're going to see way too many SBC powered cars. Street rod guys spend a fortune to make their cars unique then stick the same engine in it that everyone else has. Ford Windsor engines and Mopar LA small blocks, 273, 318, 340, and even 360s are better engines. AMC's last generation V8's were decent but they're getting hard to find. Buick Nailheads look cool and are narrow so they fit well in old engine bays, a Buick 455 weighs almost the same as a SBC and they were torque monsters, Ford Y blocks are heavy but they have a great exhaust note and look cool- some had dual quads or a supercharger as factory options. I'd consider a 240 or 300 inline six before an SBC.

I've always wanted to build a street rod, start with frame rails on jack stands and end up with a car, but I knew I didn't want to keep a street rod clean so I built an orange Ranger.
